Custom content pages

In Pathlight, you have 16 types of question pages, one of them being Custom content questions. The custom content questions are pages where you can share special messages for your survey takers to encourage them to complete such as promising a discont incentive.

Whether you started a new survey from scratch or from a template, you can start adding questions. Here you can learn about how to use templates and how to start a post-purchase survey from scratch.

Adding and customizing a custom content question

You can use the Add questions button to start selecting from Pathlight's list of question types. In this example, we will add a custom content page.

Once you've added it you will see a page like below showing a starting empty preview on the right and the menu in which we will customize the question on the left.

The question menu has 2 main sections to start with: the heading and the body. You can also add more rows by using the Add new row. When choosing to add a new row, you can also choose the number of columns to have. In this case, we can choose 2 to have more flexibility and add more custom elements to this page. This will show under the Heading and Body element and can be edited just as the other two.

If you click the pen icon under the Heading element, it will open a more extensive menu for what you can add in this section. You can customize the text to be shown as a Heading first, but you can also edit any other elements, such as Body, add an Image, Button, Spacer, Divider, and even add a List.

To save the progress, click Save element, and it will show on the preview immediately.

In the content line with 2 columns of elements, you can add anything after clicking Add Element. In the element on the left, we can add, for example, the image of a gift, and in the element on the right, we can add a list with steps to get their discount.

After each element we add, we can click Save element to save our progres,s and this will show immediately in the preview, like below:

Advanced Settings

Now we can move to the Advanced settings, which you can access by clicking the Show advanced settings link.

"Only display once per customer" represents as it states the option to only show this once per customer to avoid showing the same survey questions to repeat customers every time they make a purchase.

The next set of settings can customize where to go next from this question. You can choose to go by default to the next question, choose any other question in the quiz to move to or end the survey.

You can also update the Submit button text and choose the style of the button and alignment. Below we've selected the button to have a label of "Go to next step" and show it centered with the Fit content width. The Default value you see under the button label can be either the built-in Pathlight text we show, or you can customize it globally in the survey in Settings.
